Nancy Ellen (Durham) Weimer

January 25, 1937 ~ November 11, 2018 (age 81)

Nancy Ellen Weimer, age 81, of Columbus, Ohio and formerly of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 2:22 A.M. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Wesley Glen Retirement Community in Columbus.

She was born in Bellefontaine January 25, 1937, a daughter of the late Frederick and Estelle (Hoffman) Durham.

On August 25, 1984, she married Don Lincoln Weimer and he preceded her in death as well as a brother, Frederick “Pete” Durham and a nephew, Todd Morgan Durham.

She is survived by her brother, David (Imogene) Durham; a niece, Jennifer (Matthew) Viets; a nephew, Ted Durham; a great-nephew, Steven Viets; a great-niece, Alexandra Durham; a step-son, Deven Weimer; step-grandchildren, Sarah and Anna Weimer; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Durham as well as other family members and friends.

Nancy graduated from Bellefontaine High School and then the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio.  She then went on to receive her BA from Miami University and a MS from the University of California in San Francisco.  She received additional education from the University of Toledo as a Primary Nurse Practitioner.  She spent her professional career at CWRU Hospitals, teaching at CWRU in the Nursing Program, Mary Rutan Hospital and as a “friendly neighbor” for many whom she came into contact with.  She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Worthington, Ohio and Chapter #267 Order of Eastern Star.

Nancy was honored as a member of the National Nursing Society, a graduation speaker for CWRU Nursing class, teacher of the year and co-author of several chapters in a nursing text.

She enjoyed her four-footed pets (dog and cat), caring for a flower and vegetable garden, learning the computer, keeping up with medical innovations and reading almost anything she could get her hands on.  She worked diligently at in-home renovations and was glad when it was done though there was always more to do.

She leaves a wish that the world be at peace.

Rev. Philip College will officiate a graveside service at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
