A. Alene Hyslip, 94, of West Liberty, Ohio, went into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Logan Acres Care Center. She was born in Jasper, Alabama on June 8, 1929, to the late John and Bessie (Haley) Estes.
On November 2, 1947, she married Reverend Lester S. Hyslip in East Prairie, Missouri and he preceded her in death on May 7, 2001. She is also preceded in death by her son, Alan Hyslip; and sisters: Susan Kirby, Vera Howell, LaVerne Parish, and Eva McAfee.
She is survived by her children: Norman (Donna Palur) of Newark, Ohio, Brenda (John) Wilson of West Liberty, Ohio, Karla Lenarz of Bellefontaine, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Marti Hyslip of Newark, Ohio; grandchildren: Brian (Stacey) Wilson of Bellefontaine, Renae (Ben) Kennedy of Zanesfield, Heather Benetos of West Liberty, Amy (Chip) Inks of Florida, Jeffery (Amanda) Hyslip of Illinois, Michael Hyslip of Zanesville, Jeremy (Kelcie) Hyslip of Texas, Tabby Hyslip of Newark, Tori (Bill) Jones of Mineral City; great grandchildren: Gavin and Hannah Wilson, Kendra, Hailey, and Lauren Kennedy, Jason, Zayden, and Xavier Wilson, Johnny and Kaitlyn Benetos, Abby and Alexa Inks, Ellie Mae Hyslip, Adeline and Barrett Kemmeling, Alaina and Lukas Jones; sisters: Chris (Bruce) Filson of Indiana and Eunice Fisher of Indiana; sister-in-law, Betty Wiley of Missouri and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Alene loved God, her family, her church, and her church family. She was a member of the Bellefontaine First Church of God in Bellefontaine. She had a beautiful spirit and a contagious smile. She loved southern gospel music, and she wrote poems and songs that were sung in various churches. In her free time, she enjoyed cross-stitching quilt blocks and making quilts for family and friends.
Pastor Gary Brown and Ed Green will officiate Alene’s funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Bellefontaine First Church of God, 1000 E. Brown Ave, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Fairview, West Liberty Cemetery.
