Alvin Lee Young

Alvin Lee Young, 93, of Jackson Center, passed away at 4:43 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on June 4, 1931, to the late Elzia and Bertha (Dykes) Young.

On March 14, 1953, he married Minnie May (Schloss) Young, and she preceded him in death on December 4, 2022. Alvin was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

He is survived by his children, Patricia (Jeffrey) McKinnon of Jackson Center, James (Susan) Lyme of Jackson Center, Robert (Teresa) Lyme of Jackson Center, and Barbara J. (Charlie) Herring of Lewistown; several grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alvin was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on October 20, 1951. He worked for Copeland in Sidney and retired in 1996. Alvin loved working in the yard and had a passion for music and trains. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

There will be no services at this time for Alvin. He will be interred in Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, at a later date.
