Anthony A. DeLaughder, 87, of Granville, Ohio, and formerly of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008, in his home.

He was born in Nentershausen, Germany, on May 7, 1921, a son of the late Glenn and Anna DeLaughder. He also was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Louise Rumer DeLaughder, whom he married 67 years ago on July 14, 1941, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine; daughters, Carolyn (Ballard) Craft of Huntsville, Ohio; Toni Sue (Gordon) Bolon of Granville, Ohio; and Dolores K. (Jim) Day of Buckeye Lake; six grandchildren, Cory (Cheryl) Craft, Scott (Charlene) Huffer, Sunday (Tracy) Cole, Holly (Scott) Norviel, Laura Day and Amy Adornetto; 10 great-grandchildren; two great step-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; close family friend, William Stookey; many nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law, all of whom will sadly miss him.

He loved his family and we love him.

Anthony served his country as a U.S. Marine and fought in the battle of Iwo Jima in World War II.

During his life, he worked for the New York Central Railroad and was a plumbing and heating contractor, opening his own business, Tony’s Heating & Plumbing, in Bellefontaine, where he lived most of his life.

He was a devoted Catholic and was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine for many years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially mushroom hunting. For the last two years, he lived in Granville with Louise. He loved sitting on his beautiful front porch, visiting with his neighbors, going for rides and out to lunch with his family.

Deacon Harold Dipple will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial follows at the Calvary Cemetery Columbarium.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Central Ohio 2269 Cherry Valley Road Newark, Ohio 43055. Arrangements were handled by the staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
