Betty Eileen (Cox) Bell

Betty Eileen (Cox) Bell, age 100, of Quincy, Ohio, went safely home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2022. She was born November 17, 1922, in Shelby County, Ohio to the late Floyd and Leah (Mason) Cox. She married Junior L. Bell on Valentine's Day in 1943. They shared 56 years of marriage before Junior passed away in 2000.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Gary Bell, son-in-law Howard Riley, three grandchildren, David, Stephanie, and Ward Bell, brother Marvin Cox, and sisters Evelyn Foreman, Barbara Atkinson, and Shirley Guy.

Betty is survived by her children, Gloria (Jeff) Smith of Piqua, Ohio; Tim (Andi) Bell of Columbus, Ohio; daughter-in-law Ann Bell of Cape Coral, Florida; and a sister, Sue McLaughlin of Houston, Texas.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Whitney Bell, Jennifer (Jeff) Steinke, Sarah (Ron) Coppock, Megan (Jeff) Kliewer, Nathan (Lauren) Bell, Jordan Bell, Michael Bell, and thirteen great grandchildren: Trenton Riley, Hunter Steinke, Savanah and McKenna Bell, Ryleigh and Ryder Coppock, Sullivan, Malcolm and Eisley Kliewer, Lennon, Lola, Henry, and Calvin Bell, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Betty was a 1940 graduate of Quincy High School. She was very active in her community and her church, Quincy United Methodist Church. At QUMG, she was a Sunday school teacher for 60 years, choir director for 55 years, and a volunteer for many church activities. Her family and her church family were very special to her.

She worked for Riverside Local Schools as a cook for almost 25 years. In 2014, Betty was inducted into the Riverside School Hall of Fame in honor of her service to the school and to the community. She was twice recognized as "Miss Quincy", once in 1939 and again in 2006. She also volunteered for many years at the Logan County Blood Mobile.

Funeral services will be held at the Quincy United Methodist Church on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 11am with Pastor Matthew Wright and Pastor Mark Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Quincy.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 3-6pm and one hour prior to funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Quincy United Methodist Church, Box 40, Quincy, Ohio 43343.
