In April 1956, Carey married Dixie Anne (Sprankell) Kreglow Campbell in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Their 17-year marriage blessed them with three children, Barbara Anne Kreglow, and Glen (Jennifer) Kreglow, both of DeGraff, and Terry Lynn Kreglow, who passed away October 16, 1988. Dixie passed away on September 23, 2017.

Following his retirement from Airstream in Jackson Center with over 40 years of employment Carey transitioned to overseeing the Kreglow Family Farm.
