Cheri Vance

Cheri (McKenzie) Vance, age 57, of Rushsylvania, Ohio passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family March 16, 2020.

She was born March 30, 1962, to Arthur and Beverly (Morrison) McKenzie, both of whom proceed her in death.

Cheri graduated from Miami University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She worked for the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center for four years and then worked for the Ridgemont Local Schools for eighteen  years before retiring. She had a passion for teaching and caring for young children.

Cheri was a very loving person. She was kind, caring and compassionate. She was the rock of her family. She had a passion for spending time with her grandchildren, who were very special to her. She enjoyed cooking, reading and dancing.

Cheri was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer in 2016. She fought the disease with tremendous courage, dignity and strength. She was so strong during multiple surgeries and treatments.

She is survived by her loving husband of thirty three years, Tony Vance; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Clay Eagy; daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Ethan Oakley and daughter, Molly Vance; grandchildren, Cole Eagy, Emily Oakley, and Carson Oakley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott and Lori McKenzie, and James and Lonnie McKenzie and several nieces and nephews.

Cheri was a member of the Rushsylvania Church of Christ. The family would like to thank the members of the church for their support. The family would also like to recognize and thank the staff of Universal Home Health & Hospice Care and The Ohio State James Cancer Hospital for their wonderful care and support for Cheri.

The immediate family will be holding a private funeral at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.

The family is deeply saddened that they cannot have a public funeral at this time as many people loved Cheri and would want to be a part of showing their love and support.  A celebration of life is being planned for a later date due to the current health situation.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center is honored to serve the Vance family.
