Constance "Connie" E. Houchin

Constance Elizabeth “Connie” Houchin, 95, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022, in Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine.

She was born in DeGraff, Ohio on January 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Edgar “Tip” and Hazel (Garver) Miller.

On April 14, 1946, she married Frederick Eugene Houchin, and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2007, after 63 years of marriage.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen E. Robson, a sister, Marilyn Knief, a brother-in-law, Rev. Kenneth Houchin (and his wife Gloria Houchin), and sister-in-law, Virginia Brumley.

She is survived by a son, Steven E. (Barbara K.) of Cincinnati, a son-in-law, Dr. Jason E. Robson of Bellefontaine, and grandchildren: Elissa L. (Rob) Seweryniak, Erin L. (Adam) Heintz, Jeffery S. (Teresa) Robson, John F. Roush, Jason A. Robson, and Jonathon S. (Sarah) Robson, 11 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Connie graduated from DeGraff High School and attended Elon College and Ohio Northern University.  She was a longtime, devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, where she served many years as a pianist and Sunday School Teacher.

She was a 75-year member of the Philharmonic Club, a local music club.  She was the pianist for many years for The Chanteurs, a trio of women who sang at many venues locally.

Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a funeral service at 12Noon on Monday, November 7, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Avenue, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Monday.  Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
