Donald F. Hostetler, age 95, of West Liberty, Ohio went to be with his Heavenly Father at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Green Hills Community in West Liberty.

He was born December 6, 1925, a son of the late Ira David and Mary Ellen (Hartzler) Hostetler.

On February 27, 1947, Donald married the former Annabelle Shumaker and she preceded him in death December 27, 2014. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dave May; a grandson, Tyson May; sisters Berdena Kanagy, Thelma Garber and Joyce Hostetler; a brother, Wendell Hostetler and twin brother Dwight Hostetler.

Donald’s memory will be forever cherished by his three daughters, Linda (Lynn) Bontrager of Cambridge, Kathy May of Elida, and Debbie (Dale) Yoder of Belleville, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Jody (Julie) May, Brian (Crissy) Bontrager, Karl (Andrea) Bontrager, Daniel Yoder, Dustin (Ashley) Yoder and Denise (Micah) Peachey; ten great grandchildren, Noah Bontrager, Michael Bontrager, Annabelle Bontrager, Lainey Bontrager, Koen Bontrager, Jackson May, Landon Yoder, Blake Yoder, Gracie Yoder and Brooklyn Peachey; a sister, June Hostetler of West Liberty and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Donald was a 1944 graduate of Salem High School. After high school during World War II Donald served our country through CPS as a Smokejumper.  Donald farmed the family farm “Rolling Acres” where Annabelle, and each of his daughters were always by his side milking the cows and working in the fields.  He taught his daughters the value of hard work, his love of the land and of God.  After retiring from farming, he worked at the West Liberty Lumber Company for eleven years.

The family will have a private graveside service at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contribution may be made in Donald’s memory to The Jenna Hostetler Fund. Donations can be made by making checks payable to Oak Grove Mennonite Church 1525 Mennonite Church Rd.  West Liberty, Ohio 43357  Please include “Share and Care Jenna” on the memo line.
