She was a lifelong resident of Logan County and was born south of DeGraff to Sanford Gail Roach and Helen Ruth Gates on May 25, 1934. Dorothy was 89 years old.

Dorothy married her high school sweetheart Ronald Neale Van Buskirk in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1986.

She had 2 children, Connie J. Miller of Centerville, Ohio, and Michael C. Van Buskirk. Michael passed away in 2013; 3 grandchildren, Justin (Melissa) Van Buskirk of Bellefontaine., Jami (Pradeep) Kumar of Aptos, CA, and Greggory (Candice) Miller of Jacksonville, FL.; 5 great grandchildren, Gavin and Maelee Van Buskirk, Anjali and Arya Kumar, and Iris Miller; 2 step-great grandchildren, Ethan Williams and Mason Rider; numerous nieces and nephews were always on her mind and you know who you are.

As for Dorothy’s siblings, a sister, Ruth McMillen; a brother, Donald Roach; and baby sister, Shirley, all preceded her in death.

She has a brother-in-law, Harvey McMillen of Van Wert, who survives.

In 1964, Dorothy took a course from the Chicago School of Education to enable her to get her high school diploma. A highlight for her. She was an avid bowler having bowled for some 25 years at TP Bowling Lanes of Bellefontaine. Dorothy was a member of the Bellefontaine Country Club, where she dabbled in golf. She retired from Silco of Bellefontaine and was a past member of the First Lutheran Church. Dorothy loved working in her yard mowing her grass with her rider mower and tending to her many flowers and tomato plants, still at the age of 89.  She also crocheted several Afghans for her children and made Christmas decorations for them. She toured Europe in the 1990s on a bus tour that traveled several countries which included the Eiffel Tower in France, Alps in Switzerland, canoeing on the Seine River in Italy. She also had been on several cruises.  Dorothy loved to watch baseball and football. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
