Dwight "Mick" E. Reed

Dwight “Mick” Reed of Indian Lake passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, with his family at his side. He was born November 14, 1945, to Dwight H. Reed and Elizabeth Dent Reed in Augusta, Georgia. He grew up in Claypool and Warsaw, Indiana until his sophomore year of high school when the family moved to Bellefontaine. He played Varsity Basketball and enjoyed working at Super Value Grocery while in high school. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1964. In 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and went on to be accepted in the 5th Special Forces Group (Green Beret). While in Vietnam, he was a First Lieutenant whose unit was responsible for training the Montagnard people.

After his discharge from the Army, Mick married Jane Cooper in 1970 at a ceremony in Ada, Ohio. They recently celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary. After graduating from Bowling Green University, Mick began working as a salesman for Depuy Orthopedics and ultimately ran the distributorship for Ohio and West Virginia. In the late 1970s, the Reed family began providing repair and maintenance for surgical instruments and in 1982 pioneered the concept of a mobile repair lab founding Mobile Instrument Service & Repair. Mick served as CEO, growing the company to a team of over 400 professionals across 49 of the 50 states until the company sold to Agiliti Health of Minneapolis, MN in 2020. Mick was most proud of the relationships he built and the prosperity he helped create for many employees, territory managers, and associates.

In earlier years, Mick enjoyed conservation efforts as a member and officer of Indian Lake Fish and Game, fishing on Lake Erie, racquetball, and vegetable gardening. In more recent years, he enjoyed antique boats, visiting his lake home in Georgia, and sharing his love of fishing in the Florida Keys with his kids and granddaughters. He truly embraced his role as their ‘Papa,’ connecting with the girls through each of their individual interests. Although he needed help with his garden, he loved planning and sharing the bounty with his friends.

Mick is survived by his wife Jane, daughter Angelique (David) Anbari of Atlanta, Georgia, son Ryan (Carly) of Lexington, Kentucky, and three granddaughters, Leona, Minnie and Julia. He is also survived by his brothers Jerry and Charlie, sister Anne, sisters and brothers in law, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
