Freda Jean (Myers) Knight, age 91, of West Jefferson, Ohio went to be with her Lord Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
She was born in Logan County Ohio September 19, 1930, the fifth of eight children born to the late John and Sarah (Barnes) Myers. On January 25, 1953, she married Hershel L. Knight, who preceded her in death in 1978.
She is survived by children: Melody (the late Manyfingers) Hostetler, Jeffery (Karen) Knight, and Janice Knight and a brother, Myron (Myra) Myers.
Freda was known for her baking and selling delicious cookies at the West Jefferson Farmer’s Market for the past decade. Earlier in life, in addition to being a farmer’s wife and raising three children, Freda was a 4-H advisor. She taught many girls the basics of sewing and cooking and won awards for baking at the Logan County Fair. She worked at both the Hi-Point JVS and at Logan Acres for many years. Eventually, she moved to Kentucky and fulfilled her dream of opening a restaurant of her own. She ran Granny’s Restaurant until her retirement then moved back to Ohio.
Pastor Ron Irick will officiate the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff, Ohio. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Greenwood – Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
