Helen Wilcox

Helen Wilcox, 100, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Friday morning, September 24, 2021 at Logan Acres Senior Community in Bellefontaine.

Helen was born in Zanesfield, Ohio March 10, 1921, to the late James Abraham and Leota Mae (Wickersham) Van Hyning.  She married Harry G. Wilcox March 10, 1942 in Lima, Ohio and he preceded her in death March 29, 1995.  She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Blake Addison Smith; siblings: Hazel Marie Hill, Ruth Clarridge Kelly, Joan “Kathryn” King, Alice B. Van Hyning, Thomas Mortimer Van Hyning and Robert George Van Hyning.

Helen is survived by her children: Iris (Guy) Raines of DeGraff, Ohio, Stephen “Butch” (Lois) Wilcox of Zanesfield and Diane (Brent) Smith of Bellefontaine; two grandchildren: Abbey (Josh) Shields and Jenna (Dustin) Wickersham; four step-grandchildren: Steven (Pam) Cottrill, Brian (Crystal) Raines, Lisa (Jim) Hartley and Scott (Rhonda) Raines; four great-grandchildren:  Madison and Marley Shields, Wells and Briggs Wickersham, plus one on the way; many step-great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen was a member of the Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church and the Women’s Church group, Indian Lake Women’s Club and Eveready Club.  She liked to knit, spend time outdoors tending to her flowers and mowing the yard.  Helen also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s sporting events.  With her husband Harry, they enjoyed boating and traveling around the world.

Friends may call Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff.

Pastor Debbie Ketcham will officiate Helen’s funeral service Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church.

Burial will be at the Zanesfield Cemetery.

The staff of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff is honored to serve the Wilcox family.
