James Leroy John

James Leroy John, 81, formerly of West Liberty, passed away Thursday morning, January 27, 2022, at Ayden Healthcare of Belle Springs, Bellefontaine. 

James was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on September 21, 1940, to the late Harry Paul and Mildred Anna (Hughes) John.  

He married Marlos Jean Shepherd on November 29, 1959, in Bellefontaine, and she preceded him in death on November 24, 2014. 

James is survived by sons: Jeffrey Shepherd (Daniela) John of Columbus, Christopher Paul (Christine) John of Columbus, and Timothy Alan (Paula) John of Hilliard; three grandchildren, Bernadette John, Alexandria John, and Michael John; a sister Paula Cronkleton of East Liberty; brothers: William “Lee” John of Wapakoneta, and Harry Merril John of Hilliard. 

James worked for IBM after serving in the Navy out of high school. He was an outdoorsman and avid hunter. He also enjoyed fishing and was an accomplished woodworker and craftsman.
