Jean Hunt

Jean (Hines) Hunt, 98, of Urbana went to her heavenly home on March 7, 2024. She was born in Champaign County, Ohio on September 29, 1925, to the late William Riley and Florence Ethel (Snook) Hines.

On April 15, 1951, she married Arnold Eugene “Gene” Hunt, and he preceded her in death on January 5, 2009. She is also preceded in death by sisters: Irene Wooley, Ruth Neal, Jane Dibert, Leona Hines and Dorothy Hines; brothers: Ralph Hines and William Warner; former step-child, Becky Hunt; and niece, Ruby Foster.

She leaves behind her children: Shelley (Paul) Davis of Urbana, Richard “Rick” (Ann) Hunt of Urbana and Janet Thomas of Springfield; former step-children; Vicky (Larry - deceased) McCauley of Marysville and Cylinda (Woody) Herron of Zanesfield; grandchildren: Emily (Lee) Purk, Ryin (Brad) Oder, Gary (Lindsay) Davis, Jamie (Doug) Wesson, Paul W. Jean was proud to remain living independently, at her Route 68 home up until last year. She loved mowing her yard, doing yardwork, and keeping her property in pristine condition even after the passing of her husband. Her greatest joy came from her family and spending time with those she loved. She always enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and many Champaign County Fair events.

She had worked at Siemens in Urbana for 30+ years before retiring in 1990. Jean was a former member of the Kingscreek United Methodist Church and a current member of the United Church of Christ in West Liberty, where she was involved in Sunday School and Missionary Aid. She loved spending time with her church family.
