Kress Barton, 93, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Ayden Healthcare of Belle Springs. He was born in Logan County, Ohio on January 16, 1929, to the late Mark and Elizabeth (Kress) Barton. He is also preceded in death by a son, Greg Barton, a grandson, Jonathan Barton, and a brother, Chuck Barton.
On June 19, 1949, he married Donna (Short) Barton, and she survives.
He is also survived by children: Jane (Steve) Arbogast and Kress (Cindy) Barton; grandchildren: Jason, Nathan, Allison, Maribeth, Katie, Christopher, Kress, Andrew, David, Matthew, and Daniel; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly (Larry) Brenner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A 1947 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Kress was drafted by the U.S Army to serve in the Korean War from 1952-1954. After returning home, he delivered milk for Hopewell Dairy in Bellefontaine, and then became an insurance agent, selling insurance with Sloan and Prudential insurance companies before becoming co-owner of Barton Insurance. He was a member of the Bellefontaine United Methodist Church and was a part of the United Methodist Men’s club. He was also a member of the Rotary Club, having been honored for 48 straight years of perfect attendance.
Kress was a jokester and would always express his humor in any situation. He and Donna enjoyed many trips together traveling out west to visit their sons. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and golf.
Pastor Joe Ziraldo will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Bellefontaine United Methodist Church, 201 N Main St, Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Visitation will be two hours prior from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
