Linda L. Green

Linda Lou Green, 77, of Bellefontaine, passed from this life Thursday, July 11, 2024, at The Ohio State University Wexner Center after several years of failing health.

She was born in Bellefontaine on Jan. 2, 1947, to parents William I. Rollins and Sally M. (Calvin) Phillips, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by sister Marcia Ann Lane, with whom she shared an incredibly close bond.

Linda grew up in Rushsylvania, Ohio, graduating from Buckeye Local High School in 1965. She also attended and graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1969.

After graduation, Linda spent nine years teaching business courses at Lima Shawnee High School. She married Jack Cowan Aug. 9, 1970, and they made their home in Lima, until they divorced, and she left teaching and joined the corporate world at GTE/Verizon in 1978.

It was at GTE, that Linda found her passion and became a savvy executive in Human Resources. During the course of 30 plus years, she moved multiple times and advanced in her career, starting at GTE as Executive Assistant to the Director of GTE Ohio.

She eventually held various HR Specialist, Managerial, and Director positions, while moving frequently with the company.

Throughout the years, she lived in Marion, Ohio; Carmel, Ind; Highland Shores, Texas; and Colleyville, Texas, before retiring and returning to Westerville, Ohio, and eventually Bellefontaine. It was at this juncture that she was reunited with James Green, with whom she had attended high school. They were married June 10, 2000.

Linda loved to be around people, and had many good friends within the GTE family and in all the cities in which she lived. She enjoyed golf, cards, and spending time in the sun. She was an avid reader, excelled at Bridge and was a committed Ohio State Buckeyes football fan. She also always had beloved pets, which she spoiled like children.

Linda is survived by her husband, James Green, brother-in-law Dennis (Mary Jane) Lane, nieces Jennifer (Roger) Darr and Carrie (Colin) Yoder, and nephew Ryan (Shelly) Lane; cousin Scott (Patty) Hurst; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and special friend Juli Vandemark.

She also was “Nana” and childcare provider for several years to Liam and Bryce Harris. Linda will be remembered by her close friends and family for her sharp mind, quick wit, infectious laugh and endless generosity.

Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home is handling cremation. Interment will be at a later date, and there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
