Margaret Jean Thackery

Margaret Jean Thackery, 94, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Friday evening, March 26, 2021 at Logan Acres Senior Community in Bellefontaine.

Peggy was born in Bellefontaine April 13, 1926, to the late James Bernard and Noel Pauline (Davis) O’Rielley.  She married Jay Bower Thackery May 29, 1948 in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death June 29, 1991.  Peggy was also preceded in death by her brothers Frank Davis O’Rielley and James Ernest O’Rielley and a nephew, John Michael O’Rielley.

Peggy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Jay and Martha Thackery of Salisbury, North Carolina; grandson Scott Matthew Thackery of Salisbury, North Carolina; sister and brother-in-law Judith Pauline and Harold Cooper of Bellefontaine; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A 1944 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Peggy was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Logan County Senior Center.  She worked as a secretary for Logan County Children’s Services for twenty three years before retiring in 1991.

Friends may call Tuesday, March 30, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.

Fr. Shawn Landenwitch will celebrate the funeral mass Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine.

Burial will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
