Martha Elizabeth Brenneman, 101, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in Hearth and Home of Urbana.

She was born in Seville, Ohio on February 10, 1922, the daughter of the late George Grover and Lena M. (Haldiman) Grossenbacher.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Lynn and her husband, Ronald Flanery, four brothers, Woodrow, George, Russell and Glenn Grossenbacher and a sister, Virginia Sampson.

On March 11, 1943, she married Richard Dale Brenneman, who preceded her in death on May 8, 2014, after 71 years of marriage.

She is survived by a daughter, Leigh Ann Condie (Angelo, deceased) of Asheville, NC; two sons, Robert “Bob” (Patricia) Brenneman of Cincinnati, OH and William “Bill” (Carmen) Brenneman of Urbana, OH; grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Brenneman, Elizabeth Brenneman, Rebeka Brenneman, Brittany Brenneman, Baileigh (Brian) Halterman, and Lisa Flanery, a step-grandson, Tyson (Jamie) Zirkle, nine great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and another expected in July, four step great-great grandchildren and another expected in May, and many nieces and nephews.

Martha graduated from Seville High School and went to work in the office at the Ohio Injector Co., Wadsworth.  After she met and married Richard, they lived in Panama for several years before coming back to the States and buying a 26-acre mini farm in Seville.  She was a longtime member of the West Liberty United Church of Christ.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband to Okinawa, The Philippines, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.  They were snowbirds in Florida for 25 winters.  They enjoyed golfing, dancing, and especially times with family and friends.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hearth & Home for their care and friendship given to Martha over the past four years and DayCity Hospice for providing unlimited needs and support in recent weeks.

There will be a private family burial in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
