Martha Conn

Martha L. Conn, 92, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine. She was born August 16, 1918 to the late Anthony and Mae (Thomas) Harpster in Hardin County, Ohio.

On September 26, 1940, she married James Earnest Conn in Roundhead, Ohio, and he preceded her in death June 24, 1978. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Russell Harpster and a sister, Evelyn VanSchoyck.

Surviving is a daughter, Susan (Fred) Burton of Bellefontaine and a brother, Roger (Lucille) Harpster of Roundhead; three grandchildren, Andy (Laura) Burton, Jim (Lisa) Burton and Steve (Susie) Burton; five great grandchildren, Nick, Connor, Anna, Carly and Ben and five nephews.

A 1936 Roundhead High School graduate, she was a beautician and owner/operator of Martha’s Beauty Salon for over forty years. Martha was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine. She also was a member of the Pricilla Circle, DAR, Eastern Star, and the Kings Daughters. A thirty five year member of the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild, she was an avid bowler at Pearl Robinsons North Main Street Lanes. She loved playing cards, especially Bridge. Her main love was her family. She loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in sporting events.

Rev. William Zeller and Gene Marine will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
