Meryl Eleanor Oakes, age 69, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at St. Rita’s Hospice in Lima, Ohio.
She was born in Lackawanna, New York July 10, 1947, the daughter of the late Richard T. and Eleanor (Green) Rosander.
On December 31, 1980, she married Gary Oakes in Wallace, Idaho and he survives in Bellefontaine along with three sons, Joseph (Tara) Oakes of Dunkirk, Ohio, Richard (Amy) Oakes of Urbana, Ohio, and Gary (Hollie) Oakes of Spencerville, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Chris Caskey of Erie, Pennsylvania and Marietta Huffman of Bellefontaine; a brother, Craig Konwinski of Manassas, Virginia and many nieces and nephews.
Meryl graduated from high school and studied at the College of William & Mary for a number of years. She worked as a homemaker, but also worked at Wal-Mart and for the Peter K. DeSomma Law Office as an administrative assistant.
She enjoyed playing BINGO and cheering for her favorite NFL team, the Seattle Seahawks. She loved to watch her sons play ball and enjoyed spending time with her family.
There are no planned public funeral services. The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
