Miriam A. Shafer Lescalleet

Miriam A. Shafer Lescalleet, age 99, of Zanesfield, Ohio passed away at 9:59 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

She was born in Shelby County Ohio November 7, 1922, a daughter of the late Philemon and Elizabeth (Phister) Watkins.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Stanley Shafer Sr. in 2002 and Robert K. Lescalleet in 2019; a son, Raymond Allen Shafer and four sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Stanley ‘Ike’ (Cathi) Shafer Jr. of Worthington, Ohio and Jeff (Vicki) Shafer of DeGraff, Ohio; 14 grandchildren: Raymond ‘Skip’ Shafer, Rose Ann Zarling, Kristie (Larry) Royer, Monte (Carol) Shafer, Aimie (Steve) Fry, Stan (Jerrie) Shafer, Vikki (Dale) Arseneau, Si Shafer, Cara (Tom) West, Michael (Sara) Shafer, Cody Shafer, Kevin Shafer, Michelle (Jonathan) Matthews, and Candace (Alan) Coggins and many great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Miriam was a 1940 graduate of Indian Lake High School where she was valedictorian.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine and also attended Zanesfield Community Chapel with her late husband, Bob Lescalleet.  She was Past President of the United Methodist Women and was member of several flower clubs, including flower judging at the state level for a number of years.

Pastors Joe Ziraldo and Keith Matthews will officiate the funeral service at 12 noon Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine, where visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral at the church.

Burial will be at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine is honored to serve the Shafer Lescalleet family.
