Opal Lee Collinsworth Horner, age 94, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Monday morning, April 27, 2020 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
She was born in Tazewell, Tennessee January 12, 1926, to the late Abe and Maggie (Rice) Collinsworth. Opal was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and George Collinsworth and three sisters, Jeanette Calicoat, Stacia Eichelberger, and Ruby Lovelace.
Opal is survived by her children, Sue Maddox of Jackson Center, Ohio, Kay Pond of Huntsville, Ohio, Charles Junior Horner of Springfield, Ohio and Connie Petty Chumley of New Tazewell, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Von) Collinsworth of Springfield and numerous nieces and nephews.
Opal worked in the healthcare field as a nurse and physical therapy assistant. She had previously attended Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Bellefontaine. Opal loved to read her Bible making it a daily task. She enjoyed quilting, mushroom hunting, baking pies and watching her flowers and hummingbirds. Opal was a simple country woman born on a mountain top in Tennessee.
Jeff LeMaster will officiate Opal’s funeral service Friday, May 1, 2020 at 12 noon at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine, where visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service. The family asked that all that attend wear casual attire.
