Owen "Bud" Van Voorhis

Owen “Bud” Van Voorhis, 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at Belle Springs Nursing & Rehab in Bellefontaine.

He was born November 23, 1933, in Zanesfield, Ohio a son of the late Guy and Helen (Quinn) Van Voorhis Ferner.

On December 24, 1952, Bud married the former Mary S. Castle in Richmond, Indiana and she preceded him in death November 9, 2020. He was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Kyle Van Voorhis and a daughter-in-law, Delena Van Voorhis.

Bud is survived by five children, Eric Van Voorhis, Michael Van Voorhis, Kelly (Kim Hill) Van Voorhis, Cindy (Mark) Oppy and Debra Van Voorhis; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; four sisters; a brother and many nieces and nephews.

Bud retired as Assistant Chief from the Bellefontaine Fire Department. Following retirement, he worked as an Assistant Manager for Community Markets in Marysville. Bud loved to cut wood and absolutely adored his grandkids. He was very generous person who would help anyone he could.

Pastor Glory Geib will officiate a celebration of life service for both Bud and Mary at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.

Burial will be at the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio at a later date.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine is honored to serve the Van Voorhis family.
