Paul Andre Soma

Paul Andre Soma, 47, loving husband, father, son and brother, of Belle Center, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born August 4, 1974, in Royal Oak, Michigan, a son of Philip James and Takako (Uchiyama) Soma.

On September 14, 2000, Paul married Dana (McDonald) Soma in Rushsylvania and she survives. He is also survived by his parents; eight children, Ethan (Ireland) Soma, Ruth, Vivian, Gideon, Benaiah, Mayumi, Felix, and Alethea; brother Dominic Soma, sister Laura (Pieter) Knight [nephew Russell, nieces Lyla, Ellaina, and Penelope], brother Steven Soma, sister Sarah (Daniel) Dmytriw, brother Joshua (Shannon) Soma [nieces Imogene, Isobel, and nephew Gabriel], nephew Alexander Wreford, and sister Maria (Michael) Lorenger [nephew Aiden].

Paul graduated from Lawrence Tech University in Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. He had experience in a broad range of jobs; besides architecture, he worked in construction as a contractor, in the medical field as an EMT, and as a fireman. He enjoyed woodworking and listening to various kinds of music, especially classical. In spite of all his skills and knowledge, if you knew Paul well, you would have known his quirky personality. He was full of silliness and unique humor with jokes that made an impression on anyone with whom he shared them. His laugh was special particularly when he chortled at his own puns.

A time for greeting the family will be from 10:00am to 1:00pm on August 4^th.  at New Richland Baptist Church, 8651 County Road 39 in Belle Center. The funeral will follow the greeting at 1:00pm. Reverend Philip H. Pockras, the family’s pastor from the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Belle Center, will officiate a funeral service.
