Peggy J. Pittman, 94, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 8:18 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Campbell Place in Bellefontaine.

She was born in Belle Center, Ohio August 25, 1927, a daughter of the late Lloyd Pearl and Irma Jeanette (Casey) Dysert.

On April 8, 1965, she married John Crockett Pittman in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death November 8, 2003. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Smith on 9/2/2013; a grandson, Zachariah W. Keller on 8/14/2012 and three brothers, Jackie, Bobby and Jimmy Dysert.

She is survived by two daughters, Tina Houchin of Marysville, Ohio and Mary (Dan) Noffsinger of Bellefontaine and a son, Alan (Ellen) Springwind-Smith of California; thirteen grandchildren: Kyle (Brad) Coons, Devin (Britney) Houchin, Drew (Julia) Houchin, Gabrielle (Austyn Groves) Keller, Ian Keller, Brynn Noffsinger, Lanessa Noffsinger, Shawn (Pat) Farley, Toni (David Hansen) Thayer, Eva Smith, Rama (Rika) Smith, Alanus Smith and Zachary Smith; her great grandchildren: Alix, Aiden, Ethen, Eli, Hayes, Keira, Leihum, Caidence, Jameson, Reid, Zelda, Orson, Brayden, Bodhi, Nathan, Kerstin and Peyton along with four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Patty Stringer of Bellefontaine and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was a member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church and had volunteered with the March of Dimes for 30+ years.  She was an avid bowler and had served as an association officer for the USBC for 45+ years.  She attended the National Bowling Tourney annually for 40 years and was inducted into the Bellefontaine Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1998.  She helped organize and run the March of Dimes Bowl-O-Rama for 25 years.

She also volunteered for the Logan County Election Board for 48 years, was a member of the Bellefontaine Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAV) Auxiliary and enjoyed coming into Bellefontaine City Schools where she would read with the students.

Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate a memorial service Sunday, September 26, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine. The service will be live streamed via Facebook Live through the funeral home’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/daringsanford

Calling hours will be held from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be Monday, September 27, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Please be symptom-free and practice social distancing. Masks will be available at the funeral home if desired.
