Rosemary Purtee

Rosemary Purtee, 68, of DeGraff, passed away peacefully at 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sidney, Ohio on April 26, 1957, a daughter of Jackie Ray Scott and Golda (Stiltner) Scott, who survive in DeGraff.

On April 28, 1973, Rosemary married Michael Ray Purtee Sr. in Quincy, Ohio and he survives, along with their four children, Mike (Tabby) Purtee, Angela (Harold) Elsass, Jackie Roessner, and Rachel (Scott) Fischer; ten grandchildren, Brenda, Riley, Jade, Xandria, Mya, Isiah, Gavin, Kaleb, Madison, and Oliver; three step-grandchildren; Skylar, Dominic, and Kyle; three brothers, Daniel (Karen) Scott, Ricky (Valerie) Scott, and Woody (Ashley) Scott; and several nieces and nephews.

A homemaker, Rosemary loved her kitty cats and camping. She was a quiet strength behind her family – a devoted mother, beloved wife, and deeply cherished daughter. As a homemaker, she created a home filled with warmth, love, and comfort, where everyone felt safe, welcome, and cared for. Her gentle hands tended to every detail, her heart poured into every meal, every hug, every kind word.

She had a deep love for animals, especially the cats she nurtured with such tenderness. They brought her peace and joy, just as she brought those things to her family. She taught her children the value of patience, of kindness, and the beauty of loving well and without condition.

In her presence, life felt a little softer, a little kinder. Though she is no longer with us in body, her love surrounds us still – in the memories we cherish, the values she instilled, and the love we carry forward in her name.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street in DeGraff, where Bill Purtee will lead a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Quincy, Ohio.
