Sheldon Miller Lahr

Sheldon Miller “Shel” Lahr, 70, of Lakeview, Ohio passed away at LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville, Tennessee Wednesday morning, October 27, 2021.

Shel was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio December 21, 1950, to the late Sheldon and Arlene (Woods) Lahr.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tom Lahr.

Shel is survived by his life partner, Lynn Potter of Lakeview; children: Julie (Bruce Huhn) Lahr of Russells Point, Ohio, Jessica Potter of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Johanna (Thomas) Toler of Springfield, Ohio and Zachary Potter of Lakeview; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob Lahr and a sister, Betty Lahr.  Shel will be missed by his little dogs, Homer and Woo.

Shel retired in 2014 as Vice President of Manufacturing at Engineered Wire Products in Upper Sandusky.  He had also previously worked with the Wyandot County Sheriff's Department and EMS.  Most recently, he was the owner and operator of “The Landing Tavern” in Russells Point until 2017.  He loved to vacation – fall trips for nearly 20 years to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and his trips to the Florida Keys.   Shel enjoyed boating, riding his Honda Goldwing and his golf cart.  Shel was a member of the Indian Lake Eagles Aerie #3615.

He spent his life making people laugh and helping those less fortunate than him, never expecting anything in return. He had a big heart and loved joking around, loved life and loved his family.  He will be missed by many.

Per his request, there will be no formal service. However, a celebration of Shel’s life will be held at The Landing Tavern in Russells Point, Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 1 p.m.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine is honored to serve the Lahr family.
