Stanley L. Smith, 73, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born August 10, 1937 in Bellefontaine to the late Lester Pearl Smith and Palmarie Rose (Parmer) Smith who survives in Bellefontaine. Two sisters preceded him in death.

He is survived by sons, Johnie (Sherri) Smith of Parrotsville, Tennessee, and Michael (Kathy) Smith of St. Paul, North Carolina; daughters, Sherri (Kevin) Allen of Quincy, Ohio, Cathy (Rusty) Shields of Bellefontaine, and Jennifer (Brian) Hensley of Kenton, Ohio; sisters, Sandra Jean Gribler of Springfield, Ohio, and Joan (Bill) Berry of Bellefontaine; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Stanley retired from D.A.B. He was a 1956 Bellefontaine High School graduate and was an United States Army Veteran. A collector of baseball cards, he enjoyed watching baseball and football games, fishing, gardening and being outdoors. He enjoyed taking care of all kinds of animals. He would take the animals home, make them healthy and then take them in as pets.

Calling hours are from 2 to 6 P.M. Sunday, September 26, 2010, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 27, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor David Greenbaum officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
