Virginia Mae Fergus

Virginia Mae Fergus, 99, of West Liberty, passed away at 3:40 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She was born in Shelby County, Ohio on October 12, 1924, a daughter of the late Carl E. Roby and Carrie Blanche (Strong) Roby.

Virginia is survived by her son, Gary (Marg) Fergus; a daughter-in-law, Jinny Fergus; four grandchildren, John (Dawn) Fergus, Jeff (Sarah Freeman) Fergus, Tina (Jeff) Keckler, and Scott (Amber) Fergus; seven great grandchildren, Haley Fergus, Lexi Fergus, Jordan Keith, Megan Keckler, Emily (Dean) Smith, Kayli Fergus, and Alivia Fergus; two great great grandchildren, Hadley Keckler, and Stella Keith; a brother, Orville Roby; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Doug Fergus, who passed away December 27, 2005; and eight siblings, Lena Elliott, Paul Roby, Walter Roby, Harold Roby, Rosella "Sally" Oder, Marcella Clement, Viola "Minnie" Smith, and Phylis Hackett.

Virginia had worked as a line worker for Mid-States Container in DeGraff from 1961 to 1978. She had more recently worked as a greeter at Walmart for nearly 15 years. She was a Mary Rutan Hospital Guild Volunteer and member of the Hi-Point See Saws Square Dancing Group.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street in Bellefontaine, where Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio. Family and guests are encouraged to wear casual attire.
