Virginia M. Wildermuth, 102, formerly of Jackson Center, passed away Saturday morning, December 16, 2023, at Fair Haven Nursing Home.
Virginia was born in Jackson Township, Shelby County, on December 13, 1921, to the late Elmer Reuben and Ethel F. (Boggs) Wise. She married Lowell F. Wildermuth on September 27, 1937, and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1994. Virginia was also preceded in death by a son Wayne Wildermuth, daughter-in-law Amy Wildermuth, sons-in-law Gary Elliott and Glen Fogt, a grandchild Jackie Thuman, brothers George E. Wise, John N. Wise, and Stanley Wise, and sisters Viola Freistuhler and Rose Barker.
Virginia is survived by daughters: Pat Kreglow of Wapakoneta, Phyllis Elliott of Columbus, and Karen Fogt of Maplewood; sons: Gary (Sandra) Wildermuth of Wapakoneta, and Michael Wildermuth of Jackson Center; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Richard F. Wise of Celina; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, including Sylvia Davis, Marilyn Johnson, Ruth Anne Lamb, and Jo Regula.
Virginia was a seamstress and worked at Holloway Sportswear, then in the drapery department at Airstream, and also Gem Manufacturing. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, working crossword puzzles, and tending to her flower beds and yard. She was once asked how she lived so long, and she replied “I just did it and was blessed along the way.”
Pastor Dave Sanders will officiate Virginia’s funeral service on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11am at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Jackson Center, where the visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Her graveside burial will be in Glen Cemetery on Thursday at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, 17716 High St. Anna, OH 45302 (Parsonage address), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
