Wanda Ann Baker Chamberlain

Wanda Ann Baker Chamberlain, age 98, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, at The Ohio Masonic Home in Springfield, Ohio with family members by her side.

Wanda was born on January 9, 1925, in Middletown, Ohio (Champaign County) near North Lewisburg. She was the daughter of the late Charles Jacob and beloved Hazel L. (Rhoades) Baker.

Wanda eloped to Covington, Kentucky to marry Paul A. Chamberlain from North Lewisburg, Ohio, on April 26, 1941. Paul preceded her in death on March 6, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, John Michael Blackburn Weymouth. In addition, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings: Lola J. Baker, Charles (Harriet) Baker, Jr., Eva (Jake) Watkins and Judson B. Baker.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Joan (James) Chamberlain Reynolds of Miami, Florida;  son, Scott (Cheryl) Chamberlain of New Albany; daughter Jillian (Phil) Chamberlain Holt of Cincinnati; and daughter Sally (Carter) Chamberlain of Richmond, Virginia; one grandson, Maj. Aaron (Whitney) Chamberlain, USAF of Navarre, Florida; four great-grandchildren, Michelle (Johnny) Castellon of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and Catherine (Sean Taylor) Weymouth of Miami, Florida, Reid Chamberlain and Cooper Chamberlain, both of Navarre, Florida; and five great-great-grandchildren, Damyen Castellon, Natalia Castellon, Barbara Weymouth Edwards, Kayla Taylor and Caleb Taylor. Wanda was the dear sister-in-law of Elaine Baker of Dayton, Robert (Dorothy) Chamberlain of Urbana and Michael (Peggy) Chamberlain of North Lewisburg. She also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, friends and extended family, including caretakers Ann Smith and Lori Brown.

Wanda loved spending time with her family. Being a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother were the most important priorities in her life. As her kids fondly told her, she was, “The BEST Mom in the Whole, Wide World!”  She did everything out of love for her family and others. If you were Wanda’s friend, you were her friend for life and it was important to her to stay in contact.

Wanda enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling with her family, gardening, sewing, American history, playing games (word, trivia and cards) along with emailing and texting on her cell phone & iPad, riding in airplanes, animals, playing the cello in high school, listening to music, playing the piano (self-taught), as well as enjoying playing on the girls basketball team at North Lewisburg HS. She also loved attending her children’s activities and events; as well as watching Ohio State Buckeye football games!

Wanda was a member of the East Liberty UMC, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Order of the Pythian Sisters, Logan Hills Booster Club, Perry Zane Community Civic Club, Logan County Board of Elections and she was a volunteer Airplane Spotter for America’s Civil Defense after WWII and during the Cold War. Wanda worked as a waitress at Bob-N in Bellefontaine.

She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
