Doris Levon Knox Wessel, 96, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 at Logan Acres Senior Community in Bellefontaine.
She was born in North Lewisburg, Ohio September 26, 1924, a daughter of the late Levi H. and Della (Greg) Spain.
On April 16, 1940, she married Pearl L. Knox and he preceded her in death November 9, 1982. On November 3, 1979, she married Frederick Wessel and he preceded her in death March 22, 1995.
She is survived by six daughters, Della Scott, Sharon (Jerry) Hoge, Patricia Pinks, Juanitta Perdue, Carol (Jim) Simpson and Kimberly Knox; three sons, Michael Knox, Randy (Terri) Knox and Kermit Knox; two daughters-in-law, Joni Knox and Melissa Knox; thirty seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Pearl Leroy Knox Jr. and Arthur Eugene “Doody” Knox; three grandchildren, Albert Yeager, Travis Knox and Dori Thomas; three great grandchildren, Lucas Heath, Lindsey Heath and Clerissa Grow; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle and John Isaacs, Juanita and Charles Keeran and Veran and George Morgan and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl and Helen Spain and Jake Spain.
In addition to raising her eleven children, she was also the neighborhood mother to many other children. She enjoyed playing Euchre, fishing and deer hunting. She loved her large family and enjoyed keeping up to date with each and every one of her family members.
Pastor Carl Spain her nephew, will officiate the funeral service Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
